Bachelor of Physiotherapy abbreviated as BPT course. It is a full time four year undergraduate course. In the BPT program six months of clinical internship is mandatory. It can be pursued after 10+2 qualification. Students can pursue this course from any recognized institute of India. BPT seats across various colleges were filled through state or national entrance examinations. In contrast, some of the institutes also provide direct admission to the eligible candidates. 

Physiotherapy focuses on the physical moment of the human body. The main motive of this course is to provide proper knowledge of human anatomy, physical moment, exercises, manual therapy, and electro-physical treatment and cure the physical and mental stress related problems. In short, students will learn to associate physical disorders in the human body like neck, back, spinal cord, knee related problems.

BPT Course duration

The duration of Bachelor of Physiotherapy is four years long. Moreover, after completing academic education, a six months clinical rotation internship is important. The course curriculum of BPT course generally involves manual therapy, exercises & massage and application of Electro-physical treatment.

During academic students will acquire theoretical skills about human anatomy, neurology, body moment and basic knowledge required to become a Therapist. Additionally, they will also get various opportunities to practice and get hands on training.

BPT Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria of the BPT course is almost similar to other bachelor degree criteria. It can be fulfilled by the majority of candidates seeking admission in Physiotherapist courses. Take a look at the below mentioned criteria. 

  1. Age of the candidates should not be less than 17 years. Whereas maximum age of the students should be 25 years.
  2. The candidates who have completed their higher secondary from science background or equivalent education from a recognized board can apply. Also, they must have secured an aggregate of 50% marks (45% for reserved category) or equal CGPA in PCB subjects are eligible one. 
  3. Candidates are also required to clear entrance examinations organized at national/state/university level. 

BPT Admission Process

In India, most of the institutes will provide admission on the basis of entrance examination. Well, some institutes also offer direct admission facilities to the candidates. In direct admission, the marks obtained by the candidate in 12th standard will be considered. Well, merit based admission is also in practice. Institutes held discussion and personal interviews to test general aptitude and mindset of the candidate.
